Cooksville, TN — nestled halfway between Knoxville and Nashville — is known as a micropolitan area, a business hub of 100,000 with a thriving downtown and increasing number of well-paying jobs, thanks to the success of Averitt Express.

Averitt Express was founded as Livingston Merchant’s Co-op in 1958 and incorporated as Averitt Express in 1969.  It is owned by Gary Sasser, who purchased the company from its original owner, Thurman Averitt, in October 1971 at the age of 20. At the time of the purchase, Averitt operated 3 trucks and 5 trailers. By 2015, the company is one of the nation’s leading freight transportation and supply chain management providers.

Indeed, at last count, Averitt operates in 18 states, primarily in the southeastern US and maintains an unflinching commitment to our nation’s veterans.  In fact, it was recently recognized by the Missouri Division of Workplace Development with the Flag of Freedom honor, a distinction for the company’s commitment to our US military.  As the grandson of the founder of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), I am proud to learn that 20% of Averitt’s current associates have served in the US armed forces and the company has pledged to add 1,200 more veterans by 2020.

We applaud Averitt Express’ core values and look forward to playing an important role in its RFP acceleration process, to help those associates make thoughtful, data-driven decisions that prioritize winning bids over price checks and ultimately, locks in contracted revenue for the long term.

Welcome to the Winmore family, Averitt Express. We are honored to work with you and look forward to a long, productive and enduring partnership between our companies.
